Technical Notes: After an original fanfare-style introduction, the hymn is presented in its entirety by the full ensemble. The percussion section then establishes a rhythmic ostinato pattern that is quite typical of traditional Irish folk music; a haunting melody in the mixolydian mode and drone-style accompaniment add to the excitement. The hymn tune, briefly presented within this rhythmic texture, returns more fully in a glorious maestoso where it is interrupted at the phrase endings by the ostinato pattern.
This unique combination of musical elements creates an exciting new work that will thrill and inspire both performer and audience.
